Cllr Greg Stone

Greg Stone is one of three Lib Dem councillors for North Heaton in Newcastle East. He has represented the local area and helped thousands of people with local issues since first being elected as a councillor in 1998.

He is a member of the Tyne & Wear Passenger Transport Authority where he has campaigned for upgrades to the Metro network and to local stations like Chillingham Road, and is a campaigner for better buses, such as fighting for the reinstatement of the 3 and 49 services in Cochrane Park and Benfield Road.

He is the chair of Newcastle Futures, a nationally recognised multi-agency employment project which has helped thousands of local people back into work, and is a director of a local small business based in Heaton.

Greg has fought hard for better facilities and services for our area including a new secondary school, library, and children's centre, successfully fought to reopen Newton Road Post Office, ensured the refurbishment of hundreds of council houses, and has introduced better recycling and local environmental rapid response teams, new streetlighting throughout the ward, resident parking schemes, and resurfacing of dozens of roads and footpaths.

Together with colleagues Doreen Huddart and Karen Robinson, he has tackled countless casework issues and kept residents informed through publication and delivery of regular FOCUS newsletters.
